Brazil is making significant strides in artificial intelligence education, aiming to train 5 million people in AI skills by 2027 through Microsoft's ConectAI initiative. This ambitious program, launched in September 2024, is a collaborative effort between Microsoft, the Brazilian government, and 26 partner organizations.
ConectAI: Bridging the Skills Gap
ConectAI provides free online courses via LinkedIn Learning and partner platforms, covering various skill levels, from AI fluency to advanced technical expertise. Microsoft is investing 14.7 billion Reais (approximately $2.6 billion) over three years in cloud and AI infrastructure to support this initiative, building on prior training programs that have already reached over 5 million Brazilians.
Real-World Impact
Lamonier Barbosa, a former gym worker, transformed his life through the AI bootcamp, securing an internship with a leading tech consulting firm. Similarly, Vivian Vasconcelos, from Maracanaú, gained AI skills through Trust for the Americas and ConectAI, enhancing her career prospects despite limited access to technology.
Julia Ribeiro, from Riberão Preto, used Microsoft's AI-900 and AZ-900 courses to land a job as a cloud analyst, significantly improving her and her mother's lives. Virginia Chagas, a teacher in Rio de Janeiro, uses AI to streamline administrative tasks and help other teachers integrate AI into their lesson plans.
Empowering a Nation
ConectAI aims to leverage Brazil’s increasing internet access and investments in digital infrastructure to drive economic growth and job creation. The program offers a path for Brazilians to acquire the skills needed to compete in the future workforce.
