Despite significant investment and attention, the vast majority of organizations are struggling to achieve tangible returns from their AI initiatives. According to a recent MIT study, only 5% of generative AI pilots are driving measurable profit-and-loss impact, meaning 95% are essentially failing to deliver. Lucid's AI readiness survey sheds light on the operational tripwires causing these stumbles. The survey reveals a significant disconnect between AI strategy and operational capabilities, with over 60% of knowledge workers believing their organization's AI strategy is poorly aligned with practical implementation. The challenge lies not in the technology itself, but in integrating it into daily workflows. Clear documentation, collaboration, and change management are crucial for successful AI adoption. The survey also highlights that only 16% of respondents say their workflows are extremely well-documented, with lack of time and tools cited as the top barriers. Moreover, C-suite executives are far more confident in their company's AI strategy than managers and entry-level employees. Addressing these operational gaps, such as providing unified spaces for teams to collaborate, document, and make decisions, is essential for enhancing AI readiness and unlocking its full potential.
