AI Actress Tilly Norwood May Sign With Talent Agency
Eline Van der Velden, an actor, comedian, and technologist, announced that Xicoia, her newly launched AI talent studio, is in discussions with talent agents regarding its first AI creation, Tilly Norwood. Van der Velden spoke at the Zurich Summit, presenting on her AI production studio Particle6 and participating in an AI in entertainment discussion with Verena Puhm, head of Luma AI’s Studio Dream Lab LA.
Van der Velden and Puhm both indicated that media and entertainment companies are quietly adopting AI, with public announcements of major AI projects expected soon.
Van der Velden said that after initial skepticism, interest in AI grew around May. She added that an announcement would be made in the coming months regarding which agency will represent Tilly.
Xicoia and the Future of AI Talent
The potential agent signing for Tilly Norwood comes shortly after Van der Velden announced Xicoia, an AI talent studio focused on creating, managing, and monetizing digital stars. If signed, Norwood would be among the first AI-generated actresses represented by a talent agency.
Puhm, formerly an AI artist and now head of Luma AI’s Studio Dream Lab LA, agreed with Van der Velden about the changing attitudes in studios.
Puhm recalled studios initially claiming they weren't using AI, even though some were secretly doing so. She said that around March and April, she received calls from people wanting to discuss AI.
She added that she was being considered as a liaison between directors and AI artists, educating about integrating AI workflows and pipelines. Studios have been slow to publicly embrace AI, needing creatives and technologists to demonstrate its potential. Puhm believes many companies are secretly working on AI-assisted projects but can't reveal details due to NDAs.
Puhm said that companies want to be comfortable with AI through testing and real projects, deciding when to announce it publicly. She anticipates interesting developments this year and numerous announcements at the start of next year.
