AI in Education

Artificial intelligence is now a useful tool in both education and the workforce. Students and employees are using AI to adapt to the changing world. Apps like ChatGPT help with writing and math, while Notion assists with note-taking and report writing.

An executive order, ‘Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education For American Youth,’ has integrated AI into the core curriculum for grades K-12, aiming to develop students' AI knowledge. Research indicates AI may help students become independent thinkers.

Growth of AI Since 2020

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, AI in education has grown. Initially, students relied on Duolingo and Grammarly while learning at home. A survey recorded that 27% of students regularly used AI tools, compared to 9% of teachers. Educators aim to teach the correct use of AI technology and highlight its advantages.

Educators find that AI can be used for self-reflection and feedback to ensure clarity and consistency across student comments.

AI at Fullerton College

Fullerton College now offers AI classes, like Business 256 F – Artificial intelligence and Prompt Engineering for Business, in fall 2025. Business professor Gary Graves will teach some of these classes. Graves incorporates AI to reflect the evolving world, stating that students need to know how to work with AI.

In 2026, Fullerton College will launch three new AI programs, including two certificates and an associate degree. However, not everyone agrees with using AI in classrooms.

Second-year student Ollie Gomez used AI for psychology homework but believes it defeats the purpose of having a professor.

The full impact of AI remains to be seen. Integrating computer programs may create tension for teachers but should give everyone independence in the workforce. Gary Graves believes there is no limit to what can be done with AI. He has developed new courses, AI-driven learning tools, and custom AI chatbots to support students, alumni, and entrepreneurs.
