It felt like the start of something bigger as NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined U.K. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to open London Tech Week, signaling a clear shift where ambitious technology startups are now national policy, with investments in people, platforms, and partnerships.
Huang stated that AI is transforming the entire ecosystem, including healthcare, manufacturing and scientific research, predicting that every industry in the UK will become a tech industry because of AI. Starmer added that his team is looking at how AI can be used across every government department. Starmer wants to highlight how the AI revolution is impacting the everyday lives of U.K. citizens.
NVIDIA's Investment in the UK
Huang said that the U.K. has one of the richest AI communities, the deepest thinkers, the best universities and the third largest AI capital investment in the world. He added that building AI supercomputers in the U.K. will attract more startups and enable researchers to do their work. NVIDIA will continue to invest in the U.K., start an AI lab, and partner with the UK to upskill developers.
Huang stated that infrastructure enables more research, breakthroughs, and companies. Prime Minister Starmer confirmed the U.K. will invest ~£1 billion in AI research compute by 2030, with investments starting this year. Starmer emphasized the U.K.’s sovereign AI ambitions and that AI is about codifying a nation’s culture, common sense, and history.
AI Across Europe
Governments across Europe are no longer debating whether AI matters, but how soon they can deploy it at scale. Huang noted that AI has advanced significantly and that the speed of change is incredible. NVIDIA has over 1,700 Inception members and 500 employees across four offices in the U.K. NVIDIA is building ‘AI factories of the future’ with leading U.K. companies and powering startups and scale-ups.
Jensen Huang will headline NVIDIA GTC Paris live from VivaTech. Expect news on NVIDIA Blackwell, sovereign AI initiatives, new regional partnerships and how European innovators are turning intent into infrastructure with NVIDIA.
Europe is aligning talent, policy, and compute to lead in AI.
