According to a LinkedIn Talent Blog post, both companies and job applicants can expect increased transparency regarding AI utilization during the hiring process. Artificial intelligence tools are transforming talent acquisition, leading to increased AI usage by both companies and job seekers, according to a May 20 post on LinkedIn’s Talent Blog.
Bonnie Dilber, a recruiting leader at Zapier, noted the overwhelming pace of AI's transformation of recruiting. Dilber stated that the next six months will bring greater clarity regarding AI use. Companies will likely communicate their AI stance more clearly during the application process and release formal statements.
Employers will likely implement more testing to detect AI use during hiring. Dilber wrote that this may include on-site interviews, embedded commands in job descriptions, or video verification during online interviews. The interview process will likely include skills assessments, open-ended questions, and video uploads. These strategies may decrease the number of applications and discourage less qualified or motivated individuals.
Companies will likely increase their use of AI tools for initial screening and to find potential candidates. Employers may also evaluate candidates’ AI skills, potentially asking them to create AI solutions as part of an assessment.
Experts told HR Dive that some job seekers might use AI to create fake documents and bypass applicant filters, even though most only use it for basic assistance. Companies can use AI in screening to check documents, identities, and video calls.
According to an Express Employment Professionals survey, some job seekers may avoid companies using AI in hiring. Most job seekers want human interaction to assess soft skills. According to a ServiceNow report, candidates are also “uncomfortable” with AI's role in resume reviews and decision-making. Candidates prefer AI to support interview scheduling or candidate sourcing.
