Android XR: Google's Smart Glasses Partners

Google's Android XR platform is partnering with several brands to release Android XR glasses and headsets. This mirrors its approach with Android on smartphones. Currently, there's no word on in-house Google Pixel Glasses.

Samsung

Samsung appears to be Google’s closest collaborator for Android XR. They showcased Samsung’s prototype specs at Google I/O and a TED talk.
The prototype is slim, includes a camera for AI visual input, and has a screen for visual information, unlike Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses that are limited to sonical feedback.
The specs are rumored for a 2026 launch.

Xreal

Xreal, maker of the Xreal One glasses, is developing Android XR glasses known as Project Aura. These glasses resemble the Xreal One with a built-in camera.
They will be tethered rather than wireless.
An image of Project Aura has been revealed, raising hopes that the specs are coming soon.

Warby Parker

Warby Parker, a fashion brand, is collaborating with Google on Android XR devices. An image of its smart glasses has been released.
The glasses have a sleek, standard look that aligns with Warby Parker's style, with frames suitable for all-day wear.
Given Warby Parker's lens options, its smart glasses are expected to offer prescription lenses.
They may start with simple AI glasses similar to Ray-Ban Meta.

Gentle Monster

Gentle Monster, known for head-turning designs, is also working on Android XR glasses. Their previous smart eyewear collaboration with Huawei featured standard frames with built-in speakers.

Kering Eyewear

Kering Eyewear is the newest addition to the Android XR project. Based on past collaborations with brands like Gucci and Balenciaga, its glasses are expected to have a heightened traditional design that's more striking than Warby Parker's frames.
