Apple's latest M5 chip is set to revolutionize AI processing speeds across its devices. The tech giant unveiled the new chip, along with updated MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro models, promising significant performance gains. Enhanced Processing Power The M5 chip boasts a 10-core CPU for faster overall processing. It also features a 10-core GPU with a built-in neural accelerator, enhancing both graphics and AI capabilities. MacBook Pro Gets an AI Boost Apple claims the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip delivers 3.5 times the AI performance of previous generations. This improvement makes running large-scale language models (LLM) directly on the device much easier. Improved Memory and Battery Life The new MacBook Pro has a combined memory bandwidth exceeding 150 GB per second. Battery life is also extended, now supporting up to 24 hours of use. iPad Pro Upgrades iPad Pro models also see a 3.5-fold increase in AI performance compared to earlier versions. They are equipped with a N1 wireless networking chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, and cellular models use C1X modems, reducing power consumption by 30% compared to the M4 iPad Pro. Vision Pro Gets a Chip Upgrade Apple's Vision Pro, an extended reality (XR) device, now features the M5 chip, replacing the previous M2. This upgrade enhances overall performance and extends battery life. Normal use is now up to 2 hours and 30 minutes, while video playback can last up to 3 hours. Release Date Apple's new devices, equipped with the M5 chip, will officially go on sale on October 22nd. South Korea is among the first countries to receive the new iPad Pro products on the same date.
