CAA Academic Alliance Launches AI Technologies Champion Network

The CAA Academic Alliance has unveiled its inaugural AI Technologies Champion Network, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and ethical AI implementation across its 13 member institutions. This program, part of the Alliance’s broader Strategic Roadmap, seeks to drive interdisciplinary research, faculty development, and institutional transformation through the responsible use of AI technologies in higher education.

The initiative, launched in September 2025, received nearly 400 applications, with 22 faculty and staff members selected to form the inaugural cohort. Participants hail from institutions such as Campbell University, Drexel University, Elon University, and others, reflecting the diversity and expertise within the Alliance.

Building a Network of AI Champions

The AI Technologies Champion Network aims to create a community of AI leaders across the Alliance, preparing inter-institutional teams for future funding opportunities and collaborative projects. By combining expertise and resources, the initiative seeks to accelerate AI adoption and innovation in a cohesive and ethical manner.

The Network includes awardees such as Dan Anderson from Elon University, Dr. Yimesker Yihun from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and Dr. Julian Keith from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, among others. These individuals will play a critical role in shaping the future of AI in higher education.

Driving Institutional Transformation

The CAA Academic Alliance’s focus on AI technologies underscores the growing importance of structured and collaborative approaches in higher education. As AI continues to reshape academic landscapes, this initiative ensures that institutions are equipped to navigate these changes responsibly and effectively.

The Alliance’s commitment to ethical AI use is evident in its emphasis on student success, holistic well-being, and operational effectiveness. By fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, the initiative aims to drive synergistic transformation across all member institutions, ultimately benefiting the broader higher education community.

The CAA Academic Alliance plans to share further details about the ongoing projects of the AI Technologies Network Awardees in future releases. An in-person convening is scheduled for June 2026 to celebrate the achievements of the inaugural cohort and discuss future directions.
