Using your voice to communicate with AI can be more engaging and convenient than typing. Claude AI now has its own voice mode, similar to other AIs.

Anthropic has announced the beta launch of voice mode for the Claude iOS and Android apps. This feature will be available in English on all Claude AI plans over the coming weeks, including the free one. This allows users to have spoken conversations with the AI.

To use it: Open the Claude app on your mobile device. If available, a sound-wave symbol will appear next to the microphone icon. Tap the symbol to select a voice and customize your AI partner. Then, begin speaking, and Claude will respond using your chosen voice. Key points from the conversation will be displayed as Claude speaks.

Users can switch between text and voice within the same conversation. Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers can integrate content from web searches, Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Gmail into their voice conversations. Free Claude users will be limited to 20 to 30 voice messages per day, while paid subscribers will have a higher limit.

Voice Mode Controls

During a conversation, certain controls will appear: the up arrow sends a voice message, the stop button interrupts Claude, and the plus sign accesses the camera, photo library, or files. Tap the X to exit, and go to Settings and then Voice Preferences to change Claude's voice.
