The Hamm Institute for American Energy has announced the American Energy + AI Initiative to ensure the United States can lead in artificial intelligence. With AI becoming a defining force in global competitiveness, the initiative seeks to provide the power needed for the AI era.

The initiative recognizes that every AI breakthrough, from inference engines to training models, relies on energy. The U.S. must develop the infrastructure and supply chain to meet the power demands of AI data centers with secure power.

Dr. Ann Bluntzer Pullin, executive director of the Hamm Institute, stated that energy and AI are essential for national security. The initiative aims to provide a clear path forward with input from tech and energy leaders.

The American Energy + AI Initiative will unite government, energy, technology and academia to create a focused action plan.

U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin spoke at the Hamm Institute for American Energy.

The initiative is a result of the Powering AI: Global Leadership Summit, which was attended by U.S. Cabinet officials, energy CEOs, and technologists.

The Hamm Institute will continue to hold national roundtables and pilot projects to test energy and AI solutions. Power companies, manufacturers, and tech investors are looking into ways to participate in the initiative, with investments and alliances expected.

Roundtable sessions are planned for Washington, D.C., Oklahoma City, Denver, and California, where the initiative’s plan will be developed further.
