Commission Seeks Input on Data Use for AI

The European Commission is gathering feedback on data use in Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on simplifying data rules and international data flows. This input will shape the upcoming Data Union Strategy.

Data Union Strategy

The Data Union Strategy aims to help the EU create high-quality, interoperable datasets essential for AI. It seeks to ensure coherence among data policies, infrastructures, and legal instruments. Building on previous efforts, it will facilitate trusted cross-border data flows, support common data spaces linked to the AI ecosystem, and foster trust in data sharing.

President Ursula von der Leyen announced the Data Union Strategy as a key element of Europe's plan to become an AI leader. It will leverage data to support generative AI development.

Academia, researchers, and industry are invited to submit feedback to the consultation by 18 July.
