Parents remain the primary source of guidance for teens when it comes to developing healthy online habits. Around 32% of teens trust their parents for advice, followed by friends (12%) and teachers (9%). However, the reliance on parental guidance tends to decrease as teens grow older, highlighting the importance of early education in establishing good digital habits.
"The best time to teach healthy online habits is when teens are younger and more receptive to advice from adults," noted one expert. This early intervention can help establish a foundation of responsible digital behavior that teens can carry with them as they grow older and more independent.
YouTube as an Educational Tool

About 74% of those surveyed use the platform to learn new things for school, while many also turn to YouTube for cultural exploration. Szymon, a 17-year-old from Poland, shared that YouTube has broadened his cultural horizons, exposing him to new ideas and perspectives from around the world.
The platform's ability to combine entertainment with education makes it a valuable resource for teens, but it also raises questions about the quality and reliability of the content they consume. As with AI, the key lies in teaching teens how to critically evaluate the information they encounter online.
