GM Names Former Google, Cisco Exec as First Chief AI Officer

General Motors is doubling down on artificial intelligence as it races to innovate in the automotive sector. The company has appointed Barak Turovsky, a veteran of both Google and Cisco, as its first-ever Chief AI Officer.

New AI Leadership

Turovsky, who brings over 25 years of experience, will report to Dave Richardson, SVP of software and services engineering. He officially started in the role on Monday, according to his LinkedIn post.

AI Vision and Strategy

GM stated that Turovsky will be responsible for guiding the company’s AI vision and strategy. This includes enhancing products, streamlining operations, and elevating the customer experience.

Executive Experience

Before joining GM, Turovsky served as VP of AI at Cisco. He also held leadership positions at Google as head of product for languages AI. His extensive background positions him as a key player in GM's technological evolution.

AI's Central Role

Richardson emphasized that AI is crucial to GM's future, spanning electric vehicles, traditional combustion engines, and autonomous driving technology. Turovsky expressed his enthusiasm to contribute to GM’s legacy of innovation, citing inspiration from the company's historical impact.
