Mark Zuckerberg's pursuit of AI talent continues. Meta reportedly attempted to acquire Safe Superintelligence, the $32 billion AI startup co-founded by Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s former chief scientist, according toCNBC.

CNBC reported that Sutskever declined Meta's acquisition offer. Now, Meta is reportedly in discussions to hire Safe Superintelligence's co-founder and CEO, Daniel Gross.

The Information reported earlier this week that Meta was considering hiring Gross and former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman. Meta is also considering acquiring a stake in NFDG, Friedman and Gross’ joint venture firm, which has invested in AI startups like Perplexity and Character.AI.

Gross and Friedman could enhance Meta’s AI superintelligence lab, bringing experience in managing and investing in AI research labs. Meta also announced earlier this month that Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang, and several executives from the data labeling startup, would be joining Meta.
