QWR, Kaynes Team Up to Build XR Devices in India

India's tech manufacturing is getting a major boost. QWR Interactive and Kaynes Technology are joining forces to produce extended reality (XR) devices—like headsets and smart glasses—entirely within India.

Strategic Partnership

QWR Interactive Solutions and Kaynes Technology India are partnering to develop and manufacture next-gen XR headsets and smart glasses in India. The collaboration combines QWR’s design and AI expertise with Kaynes’ manufacturing capabilities, creating India’s first complete XR manufacturing ecosystem outside of China.

QWR will act as the independent design house and original design manufacturer. They will contribute intellectual property, designs, calibration protocols, and products, including the VRone Pro, VRone Edu, and HUMBL AI Glasses. Kaynes will handle production using new lines for SMT and optical calibration, enabling large-scale manufacturing of AR/VR headsets and waveguide optics in India.

Job Creation and Reduced Dependency

This initiative is projected to create over 1,000 skilled jobs by 2027, supporting India’s electronics manufacturing goals. A key aim is to decrease India’s reliance on imported XR components by 40–50%, positioning the nation as a global export hub.

Impact on Key Sectors

The partnership seeks to empower sectors like defense, education, enterprise training, and industrial automation. It will provide them with locally built, AI-integrated spatial computing devices.

Executive Perspectives

Suraj Aiar, CEO of QWR, emphasized that the collaboration gives India complete ownership of the XR value chain. Himanshu Verma from Kaynes added that it will bring hardware to India and cultivate a new generation of engineers in emerging tech.

With the global AR/VR market expected to exceed $150 billion by 2030, this partnership positions India at the forefront of XR innovation, production, and export leadership.
