XR News: Valve Delay, Meta UI, Xreal 6DoF

This week's XR news includes updates on Google's smart glasses, Apple's smart glasses potentially releasing in late 2026, Xreal Eye adding 6DoF to One, and a major UI overhaul for Meta Quest.


Into The Radius 2, a survival shooter, is now available in Early Access for Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It's a port of the PC VR version. The game features roughly 15 hours of gameplay, 2K resolution at 72 FPS, and a beta co-op mode for two players.


Trailblazer is a complimentary interactive VR experience where you will retrace Bertha Benz's 1888 long-distance trip in the Benz Patent Motor Car.


Cosmic XR is a mixed reality app for Meta Quest that allows you to explore the solar system and deep space. For €9, you can manipulate the Milky Way, planets, and Sagittarius A*.


The latest Quest update introduces the Navigator user interface, replacing the old universal menu. Update 77 includes an AI tool for turning Instagram photos into 3D images, “following” windows, spatial audio, Bluetooth LE audio support, and text-to-speech.


The Xreal Eye camera module upgrades the Xreal One and One Pro display glasses with 6DoF tracking. It weighs 1.5 grams and captures photos and videos at up to 12MP. Shipping starts in late June at $100. All delayed One Pro pre-orders will ship by the end of May.


Apple is planning to release its version of Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in late 2026. Prototypes are expected this year, with mass chip manufacturing in 2025. The glasses will have cameras, mics, and speakers.


Google shared details about its smart glasses, which will have a camera, microphones, speakers, and an optional display. Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are creating stylish designs, and Samsung is developing a “software and hardware reference platform.” Xreal also teased “Project Aura,” a new Android XR-based display headset.


Valve's next-gen VR headset “Deckard” may not arrive until 2026. Google’s video chat platform, Beam, is slated for a 2025 launch. HP will produce the first units, debuting at InfoComm in June.


Tobii is partnering with Prophesee to develop event-based eye tracking for VR/AR headsets. Tier One: Direct Action is struggling, and the Early Access version has been removed from the Horizon Store. Sci-fi shooter Into The Darkness VR launches in Early Access May 29 for PC VR at around $20. Maestro arrives on Playstation VR 2 June 20, with a Star Wars content pack. The Creature Feature VR Showcase featured Laser Dance, Adepts Arena, Crossings, Deadly Delivery, and Wordbound.


Syberia is being fully remastered at the end of 2025 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with a standalone VR adaptation for Meta Quest 3 and 3S.
