AI in Search helps people discover information and allows brands to connect with them in AI Overviews and AI Mode. More than 5 trillion searches occur on Google annually, and AI is expanding the questions people can ask.

AI Overviews is a successful Search launch. In the U.S. and India, AI Overviews are driving over a 10% increase in Google usage for queries that show AI Overviews. People are more satisfied with their results and search more often; the volume of commercial queries is also increasing. This may lead to more opportunities for advertisers as people use Search to find brands and products.

Ads within AI Overviews are helpful because they let people connect with relevant businesses, products, and services.

Ads in AI Overviews

Search and Shopping ads in AI Overviews are expanding to desktop in the U.S. Later this year, ads in AI Overviews in English will expand to select countries on mobile and desktop. This gives businesses more chances to connect with people.

Ads in AI Mode

We’re testing ads in AI Mode, which provides AI-powered responses to complex questions with follow-up questions and links. Where relevant, ads may appear below and in AI Mode responses. For example, someone searching “how to build a website for a small business with limited resources” might see a step-by-step guide with tips. A website builder ad might be shown to help them get started. They can then ask questions to explore business ideas and learn about their target audience.

Advertisers using Performance Max, Shopping, and Search campaigns with broad match, including AI Max for Search campaigns, can have their ads appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Advertisers can also check out AI Essentials for advice on driving new customer connections.
