Siemens Unveils AI-Enhanced Toolset

At the 2025 Design Automation Conference, Siemens Digital Industries Software introduced its AI-enhanced toolset for the EDA design flow. Siemens is demonstrating how AI can improve productivity and accelerate time to market for the EDA industry, enabling customers to explore innovation opportunities. A new EDA AI system designed for semiconductor and PCB design environments is being showcased.

The EDA AI system delivers secure, advanced generative and agentic AI capabilities, offering customization and integration across the EDA workflow.

Mike Ellow, CEO, Siemens EDA, Siemens Digital Industries Software, stated that Siemens is strategically investing in AI solutions for EDA, providing customers with the technology to bring semiconductor and PCB designs to market faster. Siemens aims to revolutionize design team operations by integrating generative and agentic AI capabilities into the EDA workflow.

Features of the New EDA AI System

The EDA AI System allows customers to integrate their own EDA data and create custom workflows using AI, enhancing adoption and competitiveness. With enterprise-grade security, access control, and deployment options, Siemens ensures data protection within customer's secure data centers.

The system uses a centralized multimodal data lake that boosts productivity and supports various AI models, including language models, and machine and reinforcement learning.

NVIDIA Technologies

Siemens’ EDA AI system supports NVIDIA NIM microservices and NVIDIA Llama Nemotron models, in addition to in-house infrastructure and third-party models. NVIDIA NIM enables the deployment of inference-ready models across cloud and on-premises environments, supporting tool orchestration and multi-agent systems. Llama Nemotron adds reasoning and tool-calling for automation across the EDA workflow.

Tim Costa, senior director at NVIDIA, said that AI agents can boost productivity for electronic design automation, freeing engineers to focus on problem-solving. He added that NVIDIA NIM microservices and Llama Nemotron reasoning models enable Siemens EDA to speed the development of electronic systems.

AI Capabilities Across the Siemens EDA Portfolio

Aprisa AI Software

Aprisa AI is integrated into the Aprisa digital implementation solution, enabling AI features and methodologies across RTL-to-GDS. Its capabilities include AI design exploration that optimizes for power / performance / area (PPA) for a given design, as well as integrated generative AI-assist, delivering examples and solutions. Aprisa AI delivers productivity, faster time to tapeout and better PPA for digital designs across process technologies, enabling engineering team and compute scalability, while accelerating time-to-market for silicon designs.

Calibre Vision AI Software

Calibre Vision AI helps design teams identify and fix design violations in less time by loading and organizing them into clusters. Designers can prioritize their activity based on this clustering. Calibre Vision AI also improves efficiency with bookmarks that allow designers to capture current analysis state and foster collaboration between chip integrators and block owners during physical verification. Calibre Vision AI is integrated into layout viewers and physical design tools.

Solido Generative and Agentic AI

Solido harnesses Siemens’ EDA AI system to deliver generative and agentic AI capabilities throughout the Solido Custom IC platform to transform design and verification. Tailored to each phase of the custom IC development process, Solido’s AI empowers engineering teams to achieve productivity gains.
