TotalEnergies and Mistral AI, a French company, have announced a collaboration to accelerate AI innovation. This will support TotalEnergies’ multi-energy strategy, with a focus on low-carbon energies.
Joint AI Innovation Lab
The partnership includes the creation of a joint innovation lab with teams from both companies. Mistral AI will contribute its AI technologies. TotalEnergies will contribute its energy production expertise, especially in renewable and low carbon energy, to test and design digital solutions.

The partners will explore TotalEnergies adopting AI infrastructure, considering digital sovereignty in Europe.
AI and TotalEnergies' Ambition
This collaboration shows TotalEnergies’ commitment to using digital technology and AI to improve industrial facility performance and support its transition. Previously, TotalEnergies has used AI in earth science and to improve predictive maintenance and detect machinery issues.
AI is now vital for TotalEnergies, creating opportunities in renewables, CO2 emissions reduction, and innovative services for customers to control and optimize energy use. TotalEnergies’ Digital Factory has 300 experts and has developed over a hundred solutions, sixty of which use machine learning and generative AI.
Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said they are delighted to work with Mistral AI, a leading French AI player. He added that the deal contributes to a European technological ecosystem and allows them to explore AI opportunities. He believes AI can transform energy systems.
