NVIDIA Expands GeForce NOW Cloud Gaming to Linux PCs and Amazon Fire TV at CES 2026

NVIDIA is once again pushing the boundaries of cloud gaming, announcing significant enhancements to its GeForce NOW service at CES 2026. The company is bringing its powerful RTX 5080-class performance to an even wider audience, with new native applications for Linux PCs and Amazon Fire TV sticks, alongside highly anticipated features like flight control support. These updates mark a major step in making high-end PC gaming accessible on virtually any device.
Expanding Platform ReachGeForce NOW is set to transform more devices into high-performance gaming rigs with the introduction of new native applications. This expansion underscores NVIDIA's commitment to broad accessibility for its cloud gaming ecosystem.
The service, already available on Windows PCs, macOS, Chromebooks, mobile devices, smart TVs, virtual reality, and handhelds, will now extend its reach to Linux desktops and living room entertainment systems.
Linux PC Support ArrivesAnswering a long-standing request from the PC gaming community, NVIDIA is launching a native GeForce NOW app for Linux PCs. Compatible with Ubuntu 24.04 and later distributions, this app allows Linux users to stream supported PC titles at resolutions up to 5K at 120 frames-per-second (fps) or 1080p at 360 fps.
This means Linux users can experience advanced graphics features like ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4 without requiring a high-end local GPU, effectively breathing new life into older hardware. The app is expected to enter beta release early this year, promising a seamless integration into Linux desktop environments.
Gaming on Amazon Fire TVFor living room enthusiasts, a new native GeForce NOW app will bring RTX-powered PC gaming to select Amazon Fire TV sticks, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen). This allows users to stream their compatible PC game libraries directly to their big screens.
With gamepad support and GeForce NOW's intuitive interface, the app transforms compact streaming sticks into powerful cloud gaming platforms, eliminating the need for a dedicated console or gaming PC. This app is also slated for an early year launch in countries where both services are available.
Flight Controls Take OffSimulation fans will celebrate a significant upgrade as GeForce NOW introduces support for popular flight controls. This includes flight sticks and throttle systems from leading brands like Thrustmaster and Logitech, catering to both desktop and custom cockpit setups.
Leveraging the RTX 5080 performance, ultralow-latency streaming, and NVIDIA Reflex technology, virtual pilots can achieve greater precision and immersion in titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Elite Dangerous, and War Thunder. This feature is also anticipated to roll out early this year.
New Blockbusters and Streamlined AccessThe GeForce NOW catalog, already boasting thousands of games from major PC stores like Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox, continues to grow. New AAA titles are joining the service, including IO Interactive’s 007 First Light, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem, Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert, and Gaijin Entertainment’s Active Matter.
These upcoming blockbusters promise diverse experiences, from James Bond espionage and survival horror to open-world fantasy and realistic military shooters. Members can stay updated on new releases via GFN Thursdays.
Furthermore, NVIDIA is enhancing user convenience with new account and platform integrations. Following the introduction of Battle.net automatic sign-in, Gaijin.net is also set to support automatic sign-in early this year, allowing members to authenticate once for quicker access to games like War Thunder.
The Power of Blackwell RTXAt the heart of these advancements is the NVIDIA Blackwell RTX platform, powering GeForce RTX 5080-class servers globally for Ultimate members. This delivers up to 5K resolution at 120 fps or 1080p at 360 fps with NVIDIA Reflex for ultra-low latency competitive play.
A Cinematic-Quality Streaming mode is also available, optimizing image clarity and text sharpness for visually rich single-player adventures. These technological underpinnings ensure a premium, responsive cloud gaming experience across all supported devices.
